For our “Get Caught Reading” campaign Jens Geier, Member of the European Parliament, chose “1913” by Florian Illies.

“Florian Illies describes in his book “1913” the political and cultural events of that year, its context, coincidences and anecdotes. His book also shows at many points to what extent the big war was expected in many countries already. Isn’t this a progress for Europe and its nations that we cannot imagine that anymore today?”, says Mr Geier.
