This book is an absorbing History of Hallmarking, by J.S. Forbes. This is of special interest to me, as Chairman of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee. Hallmarking of precious metals is the oldest form of consumer protection, dating back to 1300, says Mr Malcolm Harbour, Member of the European Parliament, Chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, for the “Get Caught Reading” campaign.
