Reading is a very important part of my life. I read for pleasure, for knowledge and self-development. But there is one more very important reason why people read – thanks to books we can save our traditions from forgetting. We can travel around the unreal world. We can touch  and get to know the people who lived and died in a very long past.  Everything changes, our memory about past is not perfect but we can prevent from it by writing and reading books dedicated to culture and history. Also for these reasons I choose “Księgi Jakubowe” (Jacob Book’s) written by Olga Tokarczuk. The book of Olga Tokarczuk has many levels and possible interpretations. It’s a novel about the history, but not strictly historical. It is a fascinating journey through the XVIII century Poland, where lived next to each followers of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Jacob Book’s can be the inspiration for a wise reflection on the present.
