Asking me to choose my favourite book is an impossible choice, but, among the best, there is Tocqueville’s Democracy in America for sure, says Mr Philippe Juvin, Member of the European Parliament.
Why? Because he is the writer of Freedom and because he is one of those French writers beloved worldwide, but unfortunately little known in their own country. Tocqueville should be read by all those interested in politics, and taught in all civic education classes. He enables people to understand why democracy is the best political system and how it should be practised, added Mr Juvin.
